Week 9 on “Dancing With the Stars” was the quarterfinals and it was unbelievable! Not only were there incredible dances and outstanding trio dances that garnered plenty of 9s and 10s, but there was a jaw-dropping stunner at the beginning of the show. Before dancing began and as the couples stood in a line on the stage, host Tom Bergeron announced that he had some results of who was safe and would definitely be going on to the semifinals — Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd, who were at the bottom of the leaderboard! Peta screamed, fell to her knees and came up with tears in her eyes, while Tommy looked incredulous as the rest of the celebs and pros crowded around them.

While it was a joyous moment for Tommy and Peta and their fans, it was going to be a sad departure for one of the couples who have been getting better pointe shoes for beginners scores each week, At the end of the show, it came down to Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev, and, incredibly, Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas, But it was Lea and Artem who were eliminated, Asked by co-host Erin Andrews about her feelings, Lea said, “I just feel really great, great in my body, I feel strong, And I’m anxious to get back to my day job at ‘Switched at Birth.'” Hugging Artem, she added, “I love this man, He’s a new pro here and I think he did a great job with me.” Tom agreed that Artem did a great job and pointed out that “this is one of those night where the strongest performances sadly are your last performance.”..

And he was right! The pair did a hot samba that scored a 34 out of 40 — Lea in a very sexy tigress outfit didn’t hurt — and followed it with a paso doble trio dance with Henry Byalikov (of the DWTS Troupe) that earned all 9s. Both dances were some of their strongest of the season, but both Lea and Artem seemed to expect it at the end. Aside from that miserable moment at the finish, the show was fast-paced and full of exciting dances. Since everyone was trying to make the semifinals, they did their best to make the viewers vote for them this week. The individual dances were left up to the voting viewers, who decided the style of dance, the song and often the wardrobe, sets and visual effects. The evening was so good, the Powers That Be might want to include viewers choice more than once in a season.

My pointe shoes for beginners three favorite individual dances were not necessarily the highest scoring, since one of them was the Viennese waltz by Tommy and Peta, Except for one moment at the end, Tommy was smooth with his steps in a very romantic way, Judge Julianne Hough called it “a proper Viennese waltz,” judge Bruno Tonioli called Tommy, “watchable,” and head judge Len Goodman, age 70, said to Tommy, age 76, “From one old geezer to another old geezer, you are my hero.”, My next fav was the jive by Sadie and Mark, It was fast, exciting, fun to watch and Sadie looked like she was having a ball, Julianne said, “What you lack in strength, you make up in performance,” but Bruno rose to Sadie’s defense when he said, “I have respect for even attempting such a difficult dance.”..

Last, but definitely not least, was Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson doing an incredible foxtrot. Len said, “Now that’s how to kick off the quarterfinals!” The dance had everything — smooth moves, light steps, great choreography. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba called it, “excellent,” and earned the pair three 9s plus the first 10 of the night. In addition, their trio dance — a paso doble with pro Lindsay Arnold — was outstanding! I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen and the judges felt the same way. The score? Four 10s for a perfect 40 and a total of 77 for both dances. If this couple doesn’t win the Mirrorball Trophy, I will really be surprised. Alfonso puts so much into every dance and does it all well.

As for the other trios, Sadie and Mark also had a perfect score for their foxtrot with pro Emma Slater, Mark choreography was incredible to work it out so Sadie wasn’t out-danced by a pro, At the end, Sadie looked terrible and Tom asked quietly what was the matter, She said, “I forgot the last part,” but Tom quickly hushed her up, saying the pointe shoes for beginners judges might not have noticed, When Len rose to his feet to shout, “Best trio of the night!” Tom turned to Sadie, “See,” he whispered, Their trio dance also got a perfect score of 40..

The semifinals are next week and I fear that it may be the end of the line for Tommy and Peta. The other couples are dancing and scoring so much higher than them that it would indeed be a personality contest instead of a dancing competition. In fact, the leaderboard this week was just the same as last week. We shall see. I just hope the quality of dance rises to the same level that it was tonight — it was sensational! See you next week — keep dancing. Remaining celebrities, pros and tonight’s total scores.

Teresa Shaw and her daughter traveled from Iowa to see Brooks play, Shaw brought a sign that said “Chemo this morning, Garth tonight, Enjoy the dance.”, So when Brooks performed his hit song named on the sign, he walked over to where the ladies sat and sang to them, according to the Associated Press, He then handed Shaw his guitar and kissed her on the forehead, Excuse me … I think I have something in my eye, KARE-TV in St, Paul reported Brooks took Shaw’s pointe shoes for beginners sign and held it up, telling her he and everyone in the crowd were sending her strength to beat her cancer..
